Fundraising Spotlight: Annual Luncheon & Fashion Show To Benefit The Teresian House

save-the-date-version-3On Thursday, November 7thPatty Tobin will be one of a handful of local businesses from around the Capital Region that will be coming together in support of the Teresian House Foundation for its Annual Luncheon & Fashion Show. The event is organized every year to raise funds that will benefit the Teresian House Center for the Elderly.

Every year Patty Tobin jewelry is featured in the fashion show along with a handful of local apparel and accessory retailers who, like Patty, will be set up to showcase and sell their merchandise starting at 10:30 AM. All vendors will be donating a portion of their sales from the event to the Teresian House Foundation in addition to the donations by some for the event’s raffle. teresian2019-part-2-bottom-final-600

Patty has been an active supporter of The Teresian House for years and as always will be donating one of her signature pieces of fine jewelry for the occasion. Patty’s donation will be one of several coveted raffle prizes awarded to a few lucky winners who will be walking away with some seriously fine swag!

It’s going to be a fun day of shopping, fashion, and food, and all for a good cause, which is why we encourage everyone to buy a ticket for themselves and one for a friend!
Tickets are $75

We know going into November everyone’s schedules begin filling up faster than usual and that people have to weigh which events to attend and which to skip, so I want to take just a moment to remind all our friends, particularly those in the greater Albany area, just what it is that the Teresion House Foundation and by extension the Teresion House Center for the Elderly does that is so important.

teresian-house_nun-and-old-lady-cropped-600

The Teresian House Foundation is the charitable arm of the Teresian House Center for the Elderly, which is one of the best quality nursing homes anywhere in our area. It’s designed to offer residents exceptional 24-7 care while allowing them to maintain their dignity as well as their privacy. It offers peace of mind to the families who are feeling heartbroken and guilty for not being able to continue to care for their loved one(s) themselves. And all of this, they do with kindness, attention, and the kind of genuine caring that is, quite frankly, sadly lacking in the majority of nursing homes throughout our state (and I suspect around the country as well).

“The Teresian House is the place that houses and cares for our community’s aging parents and grandparents when we no longer are able, and they do so with commitment, expertise, professionalism, and kindness.” – relative of resident

It is an invaluable service they bring to our community, so when you are arranging your calendar for this November, we hope that you will save November 7th for us and join us at the Saratoga National Golf Club from 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM.

Big Hearts Bring Big Help

As Valentine’s Day approaches, Patty Tobin is putting her heart into a very special private Trunk Show.
Hosted by Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan (CDPHP).
The event will benefit two inspiring Capital Region non-profits: Family Promise of the Capital Region & The Bus Stop Club.

This Thursday, February 9thPatty Tobin will showcase her beautiful handcrafted semi-precious gemstone and pearl jewelry collection from 11:30AM – 1:30PM for a private trunk show event at CDPHP‘s main office in Albany (visit our events page). For those unfamiliar with CDPHP, it is an award-winning, not-for-profit, physician-founded and doctor-directed health plan provider based up in Albany (where we’re from). The philanthropic arm of the company, CDPHP The Foundation, has earned a reputation for being an excellent and very active benefactor in the communities in which it operates.

Our work with CDPHP has highlighted one aspect of the company’s mission, which I think is particularly distinguishing and progressive. The Foundation goes above and beyond the bounds of what’s “normally” provided by your health care company by actually stepping out and investing real time and real money IN your community.

Logos of philanthropic partners participating

Their efforts “to support civic and cultural activities in CDPHP communities,” are genuinely felt in the communities they serve. This Thursday, for instance will bring together many different philanthropic persons and organizations to work collectively to raise monies for two unique organizations:

Family Promise of the Capital Region (recently named the Charity of Choice for 2017 by CDPHP) helps homeless families stay together and assists them with everything from food and shelter to helping them get back on their feet, find a job, and secure a home for their family in a way that is sustainable.

The Bus Stop Club, is the second, and it devotes extra time, attention, support — and oftentimes just “fun” — in safe, supervised environments for the siblings of children diagnosed with chronic illness or developmental, physical, or intellectual disabilities; situations which often leave those kids inadvertently neglected or overlooked by parents and family members trying to cope/manage their other child’s all-consuming illness; leaving this child vulnerable to early onset depression.

These Rose Amethyst stones offer a rare shade of lavender…they are translucent, and yet, they still hold varying degrees of rich to pale purple with warm glimmers of honied yellow
that appear and disappear with
the light as you move.

Patty Tobin donation necklace to CDPHP's local Albany Charities

This is the gorgeous Rose Amethyst necklace Patty Tobin is donating to CDPHP for this event. The necklace, a $795 retail value, will be “raffled off” during Thursday’s event and ALL proceeds will go to Family Promise and The Bus Stop Club.

Patty has worked with, participated in, donated to more charitable organizations than any individual or business I’ve ever worked for — and I worked in fundraising for years. Like many Americans, she is a small business owner, bootstrapping her way through these challenging and uncertain times, and as such, I can attest to the fact that donating not only one’s product, but one’s time and energy as well, is no small thing. But, regardless, I have never seen Patty turn her back to any person or group in need of help. Indeed, for being such a tiny person, the woman really does have the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met.

Something To Bark About: Fellow Animal Lovers Gather For A Night Of Fun and “Fur”lanthropy

newest2c_blog_comp_main_humane society2016What a night! We are so grateful to every one that attended our Humane Society Fundraiser Trunk Show on August 9th. The evening was a resounding success and a whole lot of fun! We were joined by many longtime friends and customers and were so happy to make the acquaintance of so many new faces. Guests gathered in support of Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, a fabulous organization that works tirelessly to safeguard homeless and abused animals from around the Capital Region.

We did our best to make the evening as enjoyable as possible. Guests sipped cocktails and enjoyed great company, great conversation, deeelicious food, and, of course, an exceptional jewelry showcase made possible by designer and philanthropist, Patty Tobin.

For more than 20 years, Patty has worked upstate and downstate with countless charities and nonprofits to benefit any number of causes from Alzheimer’s to kidney disease, elderly care to enumerable children’s charities. Which is why we were both so excited to finally do an event that would benefit animals in our area. (We Tobins breed fierce animal lovers…)

To ensure we raise as much as possible for the cause, Patty devoted herself these last few months to designing a stunning new collection of pieces to showcase exclusively at the event. Included in these, was a number of Patty Tobin Couture pieces, mainly statement necklaces like the Sapphires shown above (left) and the Aquamarines also shown above (right and center). These, among others, feature a new series of commissioned artisan pendants that Patty has recently introduced to her line. While these styles rest on the high-end of her line, Patty showcased a beautiful assortment of timeless necklace, bracelet and earring styles that offered guests a wide range of price points.

blog_humane_ring copyThe jewelry definitely gave the party a bit of swing, adding some fun and playfulness to the gathering as women took turns trying on different pieces and vying for a spot in front of the only mirror in the room to get a glimpse. For a little added excitement (and a little extra fundraising), Patty donated the stunning 23-carat Pink Topaz sterling silver Acanthus Cocktail Ring for a raffle prize (shown right). And our gracious host, Annmarie Ellis, donated a Patty Tobin Bali Sterling Silver necklace featuring a beautiful Lemon Topaz pendant as a second surprise raffle prize.

Thank you to everyone who worked with us to make this event possible and to every person who took time out of their busy schedule to attend. We’d like to send out a special thank you to Robin Anderson (Humane Society, Board of Directors) for her participation and effort organizing this event. We hope you will remember the name Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and go back and read our earlier blog that tells you a little bit more about who they are and the great work they do (click here to read that story).

Before we sign off, we have to give a very special Thank You to Annmarie Ellis for opening her home to us and really making this event possible. Not only did Annie graciously donate her home as our venue for the evening, but she worked tirelessly alongside Patty, donating her time, energy and capital to make sure the evening was a success. We are very grateful to you for everything, thank you.

Annmarie and Rocky Ellis

And last, but certainly not least: The Rock.
Rocky Ellis, the night just wouldn’t have been the same without you, boy.
You are the best security guard, jewelry model, and co-host anyone could ever ask for!
Thank you for sharing your home and your humans with us for the evening.

We would like to offer a special thank you to our generous co-hosts, Annmarie and Herb Ellis, and Robin and Andy Anderson. We are so grateful to be able to collaborate with these wonderful animal-loving individuals to put together this night to benefit a great organization that provides ongoing refuge and care to so many homeless and abused animals.

Patty Tobin has volunteered to do a special trunk show for the event and to donate a portion of all proceeds directly to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. All jewelry will be for sale during the evening, so we heartily encourage our guests to come ready to shop for charity. The more jewelry we sell that night, the greater the benefit will be to this extraordinary organization.

Mohawk Hudson Humane Society works tirelessly to not only provide a safe-haven for countless abused and homeless animals, but to educate and advocate for the protection and prevention of animal cruelty and abuse. It is an organization you can be proud to support.
